Bloom (St Catherine’s College)
Through Lotterywest IdeaStarter funding, 7 early-stage ideas were progressed through Bloom’s (St Catherine’s College) Orbit and Launchpad programs. Orbit is a 12-month accelerator designed to guide early-stage start-ups through challenges and facilitate scalability and growth, and Launchpad, a 12-week program that enables students to develop a business idea and earn academic credit. Through the support of Lotterywest IdeaStarter funding, 7 startups in Semester Two of 2022 had access to additional funding to grow their early-stage ideas.
Impact
Notable early-stage ideas that were progressed through Bloom’s 2022, semester 2 programs include:
- WA Equine Assisted Learning by Lina Separovich (Launchpad) – is an education company promoting social, emotional, and mental wellness.
- Ascend Labs by Jason Ager (Launchpad) – Enables athlete performance through accessible technology and user friendly products, such as IoT sensors for physical recovery.
- Rumi Saffron by Jalal Amiri (Launchpad) – Imports ethically sourced saffron from Afghanistan.
- Gemma Pepper by Gemma Strokes (Orbit) – Entertainment & education app for children.
- EBD Creations by Ellen Bourgault Du Coudray (Orbit) – Content creation for weddings & events.
- Monteiro Metal Sculptures by Dillon Monteiro (Orbit) – Recycles materials to create art from metalwork structures.
- Glossy Boys by Breanna Lane (Orbit) – Glossy Boys provides a comfortable space and a community celebrating self-expression through Xtreme-wear gel nail polish pens and nail art.
